Description

Jared was my everything until an ocean separated us and he abandoned me when I

needed him most.
He forgot the promises he made.
Forgot the love he swore was eternal.
It was over before it began.

Now, he’s a hot commodity, universally adored, and I’m the woman no one wants.
Pining for a boy who no longer exists is pathetic. Years pass, men come and go, but I

cannot move on.

I didn’t believe my fractured heart and broken soul could endure any more pain. Until
Jared rocks up to the art gallery where I work, with his fiancée in tow, and I’m drowning

again.

Seeing him brings everything to the surface, so I flee. Placing distance between us

again, I’m determined to put him behind me once and for all.
Then he reappears at my door, begging me for another chance.

I know I should turn him away.
Try telling that to my heart.

5 Stars

Jared King and Sydney Shaw were childhood sweethearts that shared not only their love for each other but a friendship that was rare and cherished by them both. When manipulations and devious acts of revenge tore them apart, years of angst and hurt followed. When these star crossed lovers reunited, secrets long kept close soon began to surface for explosive revelations.

Sydney was a heroine who struggled with a past that was as disturbing as it was painful. Her strength to move past huge injustices and abuse was admirable and heartbreaking. This was a character that carried a lot of baggage but rose above its weight but never forgot what she overcame. Jared was a character that fought for what he wanted and for those he loved. His integrity and loyalty stood alongside his talent and good looks, easily captivating readers along with Sydney.

Often a couple's physical chemistry takes precedence in a story but Ms.Davis gave equal status to this pair's friendship giving her audience a relationship full of depth and meaning. The interactions between Sydney and Jared from casual to intense were never superficial and carried a lot of weight in this work. From the start it was impossible not to see how genuine and special Sydney and Jared's relationship was, so when they struggled their angst was amplified for a very emotional reading experience.

Siobhan Davis is a consistent five star read and shows no sign of being anything less.Just when you think that this author has pulled out all the stops her next story manages to take her to a new level of WOW! Tell It To My Heart brings another moving Siobhan Davis story overflowing with emotion and the unexpected!

Mary Balogh's Remember Me Blog Tour Stop!

Remember Me By Mary Balogh

About the Book

Philippa, elder daughter of the Earl of Stratton, grew up eagerly anticipating a glittering debut and a brilliant marriage. Then her brother caught their father out in a clandestine affair and denounced him publicly. The whole family was disgraced, and Philippa’s hopes grew dim, then were fully shattered when she overheard the dashing, handsome Marquess of Roath viciously insult her upon learning of her father’s identity. Only years later does Philippa find the courage to go to London at last to meet the ton. She is an instant success and enjoys a close friendship with the granddaughter of a duke. Only one man can spoil everything for her, but surely he will not be in London this year.

The Duke of Wilby is nearing death and has tasked his grandson and heir, Lucas Arden, Marquess of Roath, with marrying and producing a son before it is too late. Lucas, who usually shuns London, goes there early in the Season in the hope of finding an eligible bride before his grandparents come and find one for him. He is instantly attracted to his sister’s new friend, until that young lady asks a simple question: “Remember me?” And suddenly he does remember her, as well as the reason why the daughter of the Earl of Stratton is the one woman he can never marry—even if his heart tells him she is the only woman he wants.

Unfortunately for Philippa and Lucas, the autocratic duke and his duchess have other ideas and believe them to be perfect for each other. They will simply not take no for an answer. Telling Philippa the full truth is the hardest thing Lucas has ever faced, and the discovery of it will change them both before they discover the healing power of love.

REMEMBER ME—Non-exclusive excerpt

Voices hummed all around them and glass and china clinked as the other guests feasted upon the sumptuous tea set out before them. Spoons scraped upon dishes of fruit trifle. Philippa glanced down at her plate and was surprised to see that the cucumber sandwich had disappeared. She even had the taste of it in her mouth.

But would this tea, to which she had looked forward with such eager anticipation, never be over? She felt as though she were suffocating. The room seemed unnaturally stuffy.

"I have just realized to my shame that I have not yet spoken with at least one third of our guests," Jenny said as she set her napkin down on the table. "I was so absorbed in my conversation with Pippa before you arrived, Luc, that I neglected everyone else. And I kept you from mingling too, Pippa, though I know you have very few acquaintances in London and came here to make some. I do apologize."

"We can put your first concern to rest without further delay, Jenny," Sir Gerald said, getting to his feet. "I see your wheeled chair in the corner here beside the mantel. Let me get you into it, and we will move about together from table to table, greeting people we have not already spoken with."

He was fetching the chair as he spoke. He bent over his cousin and, with what was obviously practiced ease, lifted her into it.

"That is kind of you, Gerald," Jenny said. "But now I am abandoning Pippa after begging her to stay with me. Luc, will you be so good as to give her your company until everyone begins to move about again?"

"It will be my pleasure," he said while Philippa smiled and her heart thumped uncomfortably and she felt robbed of breath.

The Marquess of Roath was on his feet, moving his chair out of the way so the wheeled chair could pass behind it, and bending to tuck the hem of his sister's dress about her ankles so it would not catch beneath a wheel.

When he sat down again, he did not move his chair back to where it had been. It was now closer to Philippa than before. She was aware again of the voices around them, seeming to enclose them in a cocoon of silence, which neither of them broke for a few moments. Their eyes met. His were brown, but not very dark. There were hints of green in them. He opened his mouth to speak, but she forestalled him. She had learned something in the last seven or eight months, since Devlin's return home from the wars. She had learned the importance of speaking truth rather than suppressing it and living with the illusion that all would be well in her world if only she kept quiet about what was not well.

"Remember me?" she said.

* * * * *

The sound of many voices talking at once had grown louder as more of the guests finished eating. A few had risen from their places and were moving about to talk with fellow guests at other tables. Lady Philippa Ware had spoken quietly. Lucas was not quite sure he had heard her correctly.

But all through tea, while the four of them had chatted amiably and shared family anecdotes and laughed over them—his and Jenny's and Gerald's on the one hand, Lady Philippa's on the other—he had been dragging up a distant memory from that place in the mind where one stuffs away gaffes one would dearly love to obliterate altogether if only it were possible. It was a memory from four or five years ago of going to spend Easter with James Rutledge, a friend from his Oxford years. James lived with his parents and siblings somewhere close to the village of…Boscombe? Lucas thought that was the name. It was in Hampshire anyway. When he had accepted the invitation, he had had no idea that the Earl of Stratton lived at Ravenswood Hall, a mere stone's throw from the village. He had discovered it within a day or two of his arrival, however. James had taken him—because he had thought it would amuse Lucas—to watch a crowd of his neighbors practice maypole dancing in someone's large barn, or what was supposedly a barn. It had clearly not seen either animals or hay for many a year, if ever.

Lady Philippa was not going to speak again, it seemed, until he did. But her eyes—those large, very blue eyes—did not waver from his own. And though she had spoken quietly, she had also spoken quite distinctly. He did not need to have her repeat the words.

Remember me?

"Have we met before, Lady Philippa?" he asked. But he had the ghastly feeling that they had.

J.T. Geissinger Liars Like Us Review!

Liars Like Us

By: J.T. Geissinger

Release Date: May 25, 2023

Publisher: J.T. Geissinger Inc.

Author Website: https://www.jtgeissinger.com/

5 Stars

In true J.T. Geissinger form this author continues to bring unconventional romance to her readers with a great start to her Morally Gray series in Liars Like Us!

Desperate circumstances seemed to be the trend when successful businessman Callum McCord approached down on her luck independent bookstore owner Emery Eastwood with a deal impossible to refuse. From the minute contact was made between this writer's main characters this story went in directions that were unexpected and intriguing. Just when this Ms. Geissiner's audience started to get comfortable she pulled the rug out from under them with plot twists that ranged from subtle to jaw dropping.

Gorgeous, aloof and sophisticated Calum's interest in Emery triggered her defenses even while it sparked her interest as she labeled him out of her league. Emery was down to earth with a charm that put her in the irresistible category from readers first introduction to her. Devoted and loyal to her family's legacy as well as her friends and staff she wore a tough, determined exterior even while openly showing her imperfections. Calum was a question mark from the first words out of his mouth setting the stage for a mysterious smolder that was unshakable throughout this work. With ambiguous behavior and alpha energy this hero was one big hunk of seriously hot trouble.

There were some noteworthy comical exchanges between Emery and Calum that grounded their romance and made it truly memorable. This couple's banter was beyond entertaining and extremely well done making the back and forth between them in their relationship captivating and bringing their physical connection up a notch! One of the things that stood out with this pair was Emery's ability to break down her relationship with Calum in an honest and frank assessment as things came to light. Emery's insight took this work from a potential tragedy story to a unique romance.

J.T. Geissinger's gift for the unpredictable makes reading her work an unforgettable experience. This writer's off center exploration of her characters gives her audience stories that are as unique as they are riveting. It is clear that gray is J.T. Geissinger's color and Liar's Like Us wears it well!

My eyes trailed over the blood splatters all over Lorcan’s wifebeater and arms. There was even blood on his forehead and on his eyelids. He had the Devaney clan tattoo on his right bicep, a five-leaf clover. Every man in this warehouse displayed the same tattoo.

I fought my revulsion. Uncle Gulliver’s gaze was practically X-raying me.

“Aislinn, silence doesn’t suit you,” Lorcan drawled, flashing his white teeth at me. No blood on them, though I wouldn’t have been surprised if Lorcan later feasted on his victim.

“I say yes … to your proposal.” The last word left a bitter taste on my tongue and it felt as if I’d just signed away my life. Marriage hadn’t been part of my plan for the next couple of years, even before Patrick cheated. I’d always known Patrick was too immature for such a bond, and I was never in love enough with him to see myself at his side indefinitely, but this was something I’d only realized after his confession. Lorcan was far from immature, but a marriage to him would challenge me in ways I didn’t even want to consider at this point.

Lorcan’s answering smile was triumphant and possessive, and when his eyes dragged over my body, lingering on my thighs as if he could still see them spread apart like last night, a wave of heat rushed through me.

“That calls for a toast,” Lorcan said, then louder. “We’ve got a reason to celebrate. Aislinn Killeen agreed to become my wife.”

Howls and clapping echoed through the warehouse, sending a new chill through my body. Seamus came over with a bottle of Tealing Irish whiskey, and a stack of shot glasses. He handed one to me then to Lorcan and the men gathering around us. None of them seemed bothered by the fact that we celebrated our engagement not long after Lorcan viciously beat someone to death. This was business as usual for them.

Karla Sorensen's One And Only Review!

One And Only

By: Karla Sorensen

Release Date:May 16, 2023

Publisher: Dutch Girl Publishing

Author Website: http://www.karlasorensen.com/

5 Stars

In One and Only Karla Sorensen brings out all her best for a story that readers will fall in love with.

Taciturn and reserved football star and single dad Beckett Coleman was a man who had a deficient of love his whole life so his daughter's unconditional love was a wonder to him. His focus and intensity were next level carrying over in a meaningful way to those he cared about making him a guy it was hard not to swoon over. Greer Wilder had been surrounded by love her whole life but finding someone to give love to as a partner kept eluding her. Greer kept the pages lively and her fierce and direct approach to life without being overpowering was refreshing to see. The seeming mismatch between Beckham and Greer soon proved to be anything but that as this couple navigated their confused feelings and unexpected connection.

With touching moments and intense emotions this was not a light read, it was about loyalty, kindness and camaraderie that built up to unanticipated love in many different forms. This was a slow burn romance but it was not without heat and the tension and this couple's attraction drove this story. This work was steered by love and selfless sacrifices for love, even while Beckett and Greer fought and feared receiving it from each other for a good portion of this book. Beckett's five-year-old daughter Olivia was portrayed beautifully and sensitively by this author and was age appropriate in her behavior. The commitment and love between Beckett and his daughter was heartfelt, making it easy to see how Greer fell in love with this pair. The family connections in this work were genuine and very well done adding a nice layer to this story.

Karla Sorensen's has the uncanny ability to see beyond her portrayals facades exposing their pain but more importantly their potential. Insightful this author liberally uses tears and laughter to convey her characters feelings and capture her audience's interest. Readers will fall in love with Karla Sorensen's One and Only from start to finish!

L. Ann Bishop Review!

Bishop

By: L. Ann

Release Date: April 29, 2023

Publisher: L. Ann

Author FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/LAnnAuthor/

5 Stars

L. Ann takes dark and edgy and gives it a seductive voice in book two of her Chambers Brothers Trilogy, Bishop!

Desperate times call for desperate measures when Eden Marshall finds herself fleeing her psychotic ex boyfriend. When her path crossed with renown "fixer" Bishop Chambers all bets were off as she entered into a deal to save her life at the cost of her heart.

Bishop was a man of few words and notable actions, keeping to the shadows his world was one of threats and secrets with no room for compassion. His ability to be loyal and deadly honest made him a man few knew and many feared. Eden was as brave as she was vulnerable with no friends and family for support she relied on herself. Both Bishop and Eden pushed each other to discover and see sides of themselves that they did not know they were capable of.

At first glance this was an odd pairing but the more Bishop and Eden interacted the more it became apparent that they were what each needed. This author did a great job of showing a man who was boldly ruthless in his actions and demeanor while still showing a loving side without undermining his edge. L. Ann was also able to demonstrate what a strong woman Eden was in her vulnerability without diminishing her in exposing her weaknesses. This was a slow burn attraction that effectively conveyed the tension and depth of this couple's attraction not only physically but mentally. There was a nice suspense component to this work.

L. Ann keeps her portrayals real and full of the imperfections that make them compelling. No one is black and white in the L. Ann universe and each of her characters stands out with their intricate makeups. It is not uncommon for her different worlds to crossover for great cameos that will excite her fans and intrigue her new readers, case in point Deacon Jacobs from her fabulous Midnight Pack Wolf Shifter Romance series played a small but significant part in this work. L. Ann's Bishop may not be your traditional romance but will leave fans with butterflies just the same!

*While this book can be read as a stand alone reading the previous book in this series would enhance readers overall experience.*

Beautiful Lies

By: Paula Dombrowiak

Release Date: April 17, 2023

Publisher: Paula Dombrowiak

Author Website: https://www.pauladombrowiak.com/

4 Stars

In her work Beautiful Lies Paula Dombrowiak tackles an age gap romance and all the questioning, insecurities and judgments that accompany them for a well put together story!

Unexpected and full of chemistry, older driven career woman and single mother Lake Kennedy drops her defenses and caves into her attraction to a younger man, singer Adrian Corvin, for a one night stand. In a series of unforeseen coincidences this pair was continuously confronted with their physical attraction and found themselves dancing around their emotional gravitation for a work full of angst and flirty wit.

Adrian was an interesting contrast of edgy rocker and sweet romantic. His self awareness was as attractive as his looks and together they were irresistible making Lake's internal dilemma at pursuing a relationship with him easy to understand. Outwardly Lake appeared to have it all but behind her success Lake was lonely and emotionally scarred, isolating herself in her fear of being hurt. Using her responsibility as a single parent to her daughter to avoid taking chances, Lake was caught up in avoidance of romantic opportunities and in meeting the needs and expectations of everyone but herself. Lake and Adrian were captivating together and it was no surprise that their friends and family caught on to their attraction. Lake's struggle with letting go of her tight control of her life and viewing her relationship with Adrian as taboo was the crux of this story. Adrian's faith in his and Lake's ability to overcome, both real and imagined, obstacles kept this work from being a tragedy and was very well done by this author. Not to be ignored, this couple's connection was hot!

While this work had its fair share of angst it was a much more toned down version of what readers have come to expect from this writer. There was quite a bit more humor interwoven throughout this story mellowing it and the resulting pain of Lake and Adrian's decisions and actions. There was lots of witty dialog for some fun moments and a great supporting cast and their interactions softened this story.

Paula Dombrowiak continues to offer deep and thoughtful characters that have complex exchanges and histories that shape them. Her layers are vast, giving readers robust portrayals that feel well fleshed out. Imperfections are this author's sweet spot and she displays them in her characters without hesitation making her works interesting and relatable. Paula Dombrowiak's Beautiful Lies shows a nice change of pace for this writer and will keep readers coming back for more of her fabulous stories!

The Summer We Fell

5 Stars

Luke Taylor and Juliet Cantrell were two kids who were abused, neglected and unwanted by the very people who should love them, their families. Brought together by someone who they each loved, but who experienced the opposite of what they did as the cherished son of his parents, their draw toward each other was taboo and awkward resulting in a reluctant dance around their attraction. Luke was observant and defiant looking for ways to channel his anger, recklessness and restless energy, driven by the visions of what he wanted. Juliet suffered at the hands of others so often that she was left with little to no self worth and the notion that any attention was better than none, misunderstanding people using you for wanting you. It was devastatingly heartbreaking to see Luke and Juliet navigate the best interest of others over themselves.

Luke and Juliet's relationship was complicated from the start. This pair could so easily see the other's dysfunctions even while being blind to their own. They each recognized a like soul in the other and were each in possession of extraordinary talents. Luke and Juliet's support of each other, often in subtle and covert ways, was touching and frustrating in the lengths this pair went to give it without being reprimanded or questioned by their actions. Ms. O'Roark gave a strong voice to the outlier in her characters Luke and Juliet. Their attraction was at times tortuous and at other times inspiring in its endurance. This author did a great job of translating this couple's longing to her audience.

This was a work filled with flawed characters. No portrayal walked away from this story without their fair share of questionable decisions and behavior. Anyone could be seen as a good guy or a bad guy depending on one's personal views, ultimately every character involved was human at their lowest and highest levels. This was not an easy read but one that found a way to a good place after much pain and suffering.

Elizabeth O'Roark sees past the superficial and reaches the most vulnerable places of her characters. Her ability to show sides of her portrayals that others might be dismissive of shows her talent at creating complex and beautifully messy works. Elizabeth O'Roark brings a moving story of sacrifice and true love to her readers in The Summer We Fell that will linger long after they turn the last page.

L. Ann's Neglected Consequences Review!

Neglected Consequences

By: L. Ann

Release Date: March 28, 2023

Publisher: L. Ann

Author FB Page: https://www.facebook.com/LAnnAuthor/

5 Stars

Forgotten Legacy guitarist Seth Hawkins' past has haunted him in the most tormenting way. While he achieved success beyond his wildest dreams it did not come easy or without the pain that constantly plagued his heart. When his worst nightmare came to life his coping skills were tested and his unconventional way of dealing with his past trauma led to a story filled with being confronted with the horrors he tried so hard to compartmentalize and ignore.

What stood out in this story was the undying loyalty of those few people Seth formed bonds with and a family of his own making. Seth was no longer alone and without resources and while the bulk of what needed to be dealt with needed to be done by Seth he had an unwavering group of people by his side. Secrets became glaringly apparent and issues long masked crept out into the light but throughout it all Seth's resilience was proven. There was so much emotion in this story and L. Ann handled very sensitive subject matter with honesty and kindness.

This author is all about ripping away the Band-Aid, her stories are raw and at times brutally real. The Forgotten Legacy series never feels like it is done and is a constant work in progress. L. Ann is a writer who often evolves her portrayals and their stories and that is the case with Neglected Consequences. Committing to her works is well worth the emotional investment and while her subject matter can be difficult her books are always meaningful. L. Ann takes her readers on a dark journey in Neglected Consequences even while showing them that sometimes you need to face your demons to find your happiness.

Tijan's Hockey With Benefit's Release Blitz!

Hockey With Benefits by Tijan is now live!

Hockey with benefits. That was what Mara proposed, and I was down.

She said no feelings and she meant it.
Just benefits. No strings attached. Nothing else. Not even friendship.
College was her escape, including us.

I didn't have time for a girlfriend.
I had classes, the team, my family, and the game.

It was all working too...

Until somewhere down the line, things got messy.
Until somehow we were dealing with threats, secrets, rivals, and so much more.
Until I began to want her in ways that weren't part of the deal.

Our agreement didn't just get checked into the wall, it got obliterated.

Tijan's Hockey With Benefit's Review!

Hockey With Benefits

By: Tijan

Release Date: March 7, 2023

Publisher: Tijan

Author Website: http://www.tijansbooks.com/

5 Stars

Tijan takes readers back to the Fallen Crest Universe with Hockey With Benefits for an emotional read.

Student Mara Daniels hid a lifetime of pain in her self-inflicted isolation. Her strategy of no emotional connections worked for a while until she met someone who got her pain by hiding a massive amount of his own, college hockey star Cruz Styles. An arrangement of no personal exchanges and sex seemed to satisfy both Mara and Cruz but ultimately was unsustainable. Their unexpected feelings for each and struggle with wanting more from the other complicated their well-contained worlds.

There is something that resonates with a tough exterior and vulnerable interior, both traits possessed by Mara and Cruz. Tijan captures and hones in on extraordinary circumstances and the strength this couple displayed in navigating them. The compassion and understanding Mara and Cruz showed to each other was well conveyed by Tijan whose ability to see new adult challenges from a unique view point is a rare skill. The challenges of mental health issues were addressed sensitively and age appropriately by Tijan giving readers an intimate and realistic take on them. To be expected from this author there was lots of angst and events that kept this work moving quickly.

Tijan has such a beautiful and distinctive writing voice it is hard not to be totally captivated by her stories. Her perceptive take on her characters spans across backgrounds and circumstances for intriguing and richly devised portrayals that are always memorable. Hockey With Benefits was everything that makes a Tijan book stand in a league of its own!

L. Ann & Claire Marta Dare To Live Review!

Dare To Take / Dare To Fall

By: L. Ann , Claire Marta

Release Date: February 17, 2023

Publisher: L. Ann , Claire Marta

Author Website: https://lannauthor.com/ https://clairemarta.wixsite.com/clairemarta

5 Stars

The final installment of the Churchill Bradley Academy series, Dare to Live, takes place a decade after the events of the previous three books in the series. Everyone seems to have moved on with their lives yet their lives are a shadow of what they could be as unresolved issues linger and hold them back. Both Arabella and Eli have introverted and secluded themselves from meaningful existences and their struggle to achieve peace keeps them in limbo.

When circumstances bring all the players of the previous works back together, old resentments and dark secrets take center stage once again for some riveting revelations. Faith and trust are tested and this time there is no escaping from the truth and fate. Showing their characters as mature adults was a brilliant move on the part of these authors, giving this series a nice level of sophistication and worldliness that added to the overall quality of their work.

L. Ann and Clair Marta are quite literally masterminds bringing an exceptional series to their readers with the Churchill Bradley Academy. Their seamless merging of ideas and writing was commendable and stands out at a time where collaborative writing efforts are popular. The details of these works were abundant, rich and well plotted out showing both these authors writing skills as individuals and as a team. This was a monumental series with lots of layers. Dare to Live was the perfect conclusion to a first-rate series!
