L. Ann takes dark and edgy and gives it a seductive voice in book two of her Chambers Brothers Trilogy, Bishop!
Desperate times call for desperate measures when Eden Marshall finds herself fleeing her psychotic ex boyfriend. When her path crossed with renown "fixer" Bishop Chambers all bets were off as she entered into a deal to save her life at the cost of her heart.
Bishop was a man of few words and notable actions, keeping to the shadows his world was one of threats and secrets with no room for compassion. His ability to be loyal and deadly honest made him a man few knew and many feared. Eden was as brave as she was vulnerable with no friends and family for support she relied on herself. Both Bishop and Eden pushed each other to discover and see sides of themselves that they did not know they were capable of.
At first glance this was an odd pairing but the more Bishop and Eden interacted the more it became apparent that they were what each needed. This author did a great job of showing a man who was boldly ruthless in his actions and demeanor while still showing a loving side without undermining his edge. L. Ann was also able to demonstrate what a strong woman Eden was in her vulnerability without diminishing her in exposing her weaknesses. This was a slow burn attraction that effectively conveyed the tension and depth of this couple's attraction not only physically but mentally. There was a nice suspense component to this work.
L. Ann keeps her portrayals real and full of the imperfections that make them compelling. No one is black and white in the L. Ann universe and each of her characters stands out with their intricate makeups. It is not uncommon for her different worlds to crossover for great cameos that will excite her fans and intrigue her new readers, case in point Deacon Jacobs from her fabulous Midnight Pack Wolf Shifter Romance series played a small but significant part in this work. L. Ann's Bishop may not be your traditional romance but will leave fans with butterflies just the same!
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.*
*While this book can be read as a stand alone reading the previous book in this series would enhance readers overall experience.*
