There are a million reasons to love Ilsa Madden-Mills books and The Revenge Pact just added one more!
From all outward appearances River Tate had it all. Talent, looks and charm oozed off this hero when in fact these traits covered up a multitude of flaws. Ms Mills took these imperfections and made them badges of honor with River finding a way to bring him to a place that everyone could relate to but more so admire. River held onto his integrity, often to his detriment, keeping a steady flow of angst in his stoic resolutions to follow what he thought was his fate. Anastasia Bailey was so unpretentious making her vulnerable to the less than noble agendas of others. Her naivety and glaring kindness always took front and center allowing her to retain her innate goodness. This couple was sweet and genuine even as they fought perceived expectations and misconceptions. Each carried so many blessings that what they considered weaknesses became strengths when they accepted them not as limitations but as part of who they were. Their connection was rare and beautiful to watch find its way to acceptance.
One of the things that Ilsa Madden-Mills has made an integral part of her work is the theme of fate, that circumstances are beyond our control no matter how we manipulate our situation. How this author maneuvers and challenges her stubborn characters is frequently surprising and always a pleasure to read. With a magical touch in mundane circumstances Ms. Madden-Mills adds hope and romance to the lives of her readers as they take on her fated couples and The Revenge Pact successfully continues this tradition.
