Brenda Rothert's Kit adds another heartfelt story to her Chicago Blaze series.
Kit Carter was gorgeous, talented and popular but there was something that just did not fit with the public persona he projected. Molly Lynch was career driven yet struggled with her personal interactions. Both seemed like opposites, Kit with his easy going manner and Molly with her serious disposition yet both shared personal pain that drew them to each other and intuitively made them aware that there was more to what they saw in each other at first glance and real potential for love. The attraction between this couple was well defined and kept up a steady interest in their relationship throughout this work.
Brenda Rothert is a writer who generally hits the mark. Kit was well paced and there is no doubt that this author is a talented writer. Ms. Rothert definitely generated interest in and empathy with her characters, where this work struggled a bit was in its resolution. There was some serious subject matter broached in this story that felt like its revelation was rushed and then glossed over with the characters never really resolving a very serious issue but rather continuing on in a mutually accepted and dysfunctional way. The story felt like it was just taking off when it concluded, whereas a little bit of fleshing would have made a huge difference in the overall feeling of this work. Brenda Rothert's Kit was an emotional read with lots of angst, with a little more detail it could have really made an impact and given readers and the characters a more optimistic outlook and a more satisfying read.

*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
