Diarmuid, a fierce and honorable warrior has one weakness, his fear of exposing his heart. Aednat a beautiful healer, who’s much sought after skill targets her to danger, possesses the one thing to cure Diarmuid’s hardened heart. Can the undeniable attraction between these two survive the Curse of the Healer and a damaged heart?
Ashley York heroes come in all shapes and sizes but Diarmuid definitely pushed the envelope with his gruff and surly manner until the envelope was opened and one amazing hero emerged. Aednat was a heroine who faced challenges on multiple fronts from the superstitions of the times, to physical vulnerabilities and ultimately being a woman in Medieval Ireland. Ms. York not only made Aednat true to the time she was portrayed in but found ways for her to believably cope and keep her spirited personality intact. As with all of this author’s work history is prominent with numerous relevant period details that in no way detracted or competed with the personal aspect of her story. This writer’s keen sense of adventure paired with her fast paced writing and wonderful cast kept the intrigue level on high throughout the start of her Descendants of the High King series.
The breadth of Ashley York’s story vision, knowledgeable exploration of the past and sensitive narrative skills come together beautifully in Curse of the Healer for one enthralling read.
