Problematic Love, book 8 in Lara Ward-Cosio’s Rogue series, is the continuation of Danny Boy and Amelia’s unconventional and seemingly mismatched attraction.
The characters of Danny Boy and Amelia are the kind that stand out and make an impact. Danny Boy left his blemishes open for all to see and this is exactly the reason he was so appealing. For every flaw he had there were just as many positive attributes and Amelia’s ability to see the real Danny Boy and accept him was heartbreakingly touching and true. These characters saw a kinship in each other that went to depths that were both frightening and thrilling to them. Ms. Ward-Cosio’s evolution of Danny Boy was exceptional; his character makes reader’s think as well as feel. Amelia while more subtle elicited a similar reaction and was just as masterfully put together in her understated way. This pairing was inevitable. The complications that came into play on this couple’s journey to trust in each other, find the assurance of being each other’s safety net and compromise made it literally impossible to put this work down.
Lara Ward-Cosio’s ability to relate past history in a fresh and new perspective was done spectacularly in Problematic Love. Rehashing history to enhance her story and give it substance as she builds upon her work is one of her special writing skills. This author’s connection to her characters is phenomenal and an experience like no other in its intensity, passion and devotion. These portrayals, this relationship shows this writer’s craft at its best. Her unabashed enlightenment of her characters and readers alike was at times harsh but always honest and made this story better for it. Dark humor was skillfully used as a means to softened this work and prevent it from being bogged down in heavy subject matter.
A story of hopes, dreams, forgiving oneself and others, and taking chances, Lara Ward-Cosio is absolutely on target in Problematic Love!
